What is a community advisory committee?

A community advisory committee brings stakeholders in direct and regular contact with planners and policymakers. Members review and provide input on project information as it is developed, particularly as it relates to the communities in the corridor. Committee members are important to the process because they provide unique input that combines ongoing, detailed knowledge of the project with the perspectives of community residents, business owners and stakeholders. Members are also important liaisons to their communities through formal neighborhood, civic and business groups and informal networks of friends, coworkers and neighbors.
