The Natural Areas Program Performance Oversight Committee released its second report in March 2010, evaluating Metro's progress in implementing the voter-approved 2006 natural areas bond measure. The report praises Metro for responding to the committee's suggestions and "staying on course" during the economic downturn.
Committee members span the region – and the finance, auditing, accounting, real estate, banking, grant making and law fields. Chaired by Peter Krainock, CEO of American International Supply Inc., the 20-member committee is charged with providing the Metro Council and the people of the region with an independent, outside review of the program to help Metro achieve the best results for clean water, fish and wildlife, and future generations.
Members have been asked to share their professional expertise to ensure that bond measure expenditures are effective and efficient. Specifically, the committee has been reviewing the program's overall performance for natural area acquisitions, the administration of local park projects funded by the measure and the review process for Nature in Neighborhoods capital grants.
The Natural Areas Program Performance Oversight Committee does not hold regularly scheduled meetings. See Metro's online calendar for the next meeting.View calendar

The Natural Areas Program Performance Oversight Committee has met several times a year since the Metro Council appointed members in 2007. Members specialize in specific areas of the program so they can immerse themselves and make meaningful recommendations.
